ABOUT US

JOINT EFFORTS NATIONAL HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION

Joint Efforts National Humanitarian Organization (JENHO) was established in December 2023 as a sister organization of Japan Emergency NGO (JEN) with a vision to strengthen local humanitarian capacity and deliver sustainable support to communities across Afghanistan. As a fully Afghan NGO, JENHO carries forward the mission, experience, and dedication of JEN to adapt global standards to local context with respect for cultural norms, dignity, and community ownership.

JENHO works across multiple sectors including community development, good governance, education, health, child protection, WASH, food security and livelihoods, emergency response, ESNFI, nutrition, agriculture, protection, and infrastructure rehabilitation to meet both immediate humanitarian needs and long-term development goals.

Formed with a team of experienced professionals who have served in Afghanistan with JEN, UN and other national and international organizations since 2001. JENHO benefits from deep contextual understanding, technical expertise and strong operational capacity of those combined experiences. Officially registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan, the organization operates under Afghan law while receiving technical guidance and capacity building support from JEN to ensure high standards of program quality, accountability, and impact.

Beyond program delivery, JENHO is committed to humanitarian principles and ethical standards. Our work is guided by internationally recognized frameworks, including Sphere Standards, Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and other international recognized humanitarian Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to safeguard the dignity, rights, and well being of all those we serve.

Our mandate is rooted in community centered, and participatory approaches: from needs assessment to implementation and monitoring, we engage local communities, and stakeholders to ensure that our interventions reflect real priorities and build local ownership. This approach enhances transparency, fosters trust, and aims at sustainable impact rather than short term relief.

Over the years, the founding staff of JENHO have carried out extensive humanitarian and development work that includes emergency response, reconstruction of essential infrastructure, health services, psychosocial support, livelihood support, ESNFI, WASH, education, nutrition, and social service assistance across different provinces of Afghanistan. These experiences now form the backbone of JENHO’s capacity to respond rapidly, design context appropriate programs, and deliver them reliably even under challenging conditions.

Through all its operations, JENHO remains committed to improving the lives of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and other marginalized groups to foster resilience, promoting self reliance, and enable communities to build sustainable futures. With emphasis on accountability, inclusivity, and community engagement, JENHO strives to become a trusted partner for Afghan communities in need.
