Background of JENHO

Joint Efforts National Humanitarian Organization was established in December 2023 as a sister organization of Japan Emergency NGO (JEN) with the aims of community development, good governance, promoting education, reaching to food insecure people, and emergency response to the disaster affected people. JENHO came to existence with team of JEN who were assigned and selected by Japan Emergency NGO to undertake the interventions of JEN in Afghanistan. The philosophy behind the existence of JENHO is the strategy of JEN to promote localization in the countries where it operates and promotes the capacity of local staff and make them work independently to reach people in need.

JENHO was established and officially registered with MoEc (Ministry of Economy) of Afghanistan on December 2023, as JEN’s sister organization to facilitate and support JEN’s operations in Afghanistan. JEN as an international organization intends to provide technical support to JENHO to enhance the capacity of JENHO and its staff as well as to ensure the quality of the projects.

JEN transfers its experiences, human resources, and tangible assets to JENHO in order to support people in need in Afghanistan. Furthermore, JENHO is committed to observing and delivering its assistance by IHL, CHS, Sphere standards, and other humanitarian SOPs and procedures.  JENHO’s current staff are experienced staff of JEN who have been working in Afghanistan since 2001 in the field of both Emergency and Development Assistance such as Reconstructing Infrastructure, Psyco-social Care, Self-reliance Assistance, and Social Service Assistance in its operational geographical area
