JENHO’s Key Project Highlights and Achievements at the Directorate of Economics

9 August, 2020

JENHO proudly participated in the Monthly Coordination Meeting organized by the Directorate of Economics, where our team delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the organization’s background, mission, vision, and cluster memberships. During the session, we shared key achievements from recently completed projects, particularly in the food security sector. These included the successful implementation of Sphere-standard two-month food basket distributions in Batikot and Kunar, as well as emergency assistance to returnees from Pakistan across Surkhrud, Behsud, Sherzad, Kama, and Jalalabad districts. Furthermore, we presented our accomplishments in the WASH sector, notably the completion of a project in Khogyani district, where 115 stand taps were installed to improve access to safe drinking water for local communities.

In addition, JENHO provided updates on its ongoing projects. In Mohmand Dara district, a food security initiative has supported 630 IDPs, returnees, and vulnerable host community members, with 378 conditional beneficiaries rehabilitating 8.5 km of irrigation canals and constructing 290 meters of retaining walls to enhance agricultural productivity. All 630 beneficiaries also received two-month food baskets in line with Sphere standards. In the education sector, WASH projects are being implemented in Allie, Najam ul Jehad, and Nazo Ana schools in Jalalabad district, where the construction of septic reservoirs, water storage systems, and sanitation facilities is nearing completion. Moreover, the “Strengthening Market Access and Resilience of Vulnerable MSMEs” project is underway in Nangarhar province, aiming to build the capacity of MSMEs businesses through 12 days of training and the provision of technical kits to improve production and market access. JENHO also highlighted its commitment to future initiatives, outlining plans for upcoming projects to further support vulnerable communities in the region.
