What We Do!

Background

At JENHO, we work to alleviate suffering, protect vulnerable communities, and empower people across Afghanistan. Our programs focus on sustainable humanitarian solutions and development interventions tailored to the needs of children, women, and other marginalized groups

What we do

Emergency Services & Disasters

We respond swiftly to natural disasters, conflicts, and emergencies, delivering lifesaving support including shelter, food, and medical care to those most in need. In close collaboration with UN agencies, partner organizations, and our parent organization JENHO, we actively engage in joint assessments to ensure our interventions are timely, coordinated, and effective, always prioritizing the safety, dignity, and resilience of affected communities.

what we do

Health

We improve access to essential health services, including primary healthcare, maternal and child health, and targeted support for pregnant and lactating women. Our programs address preventable and infectious diseases through awareness campaigns, in-kind medical support, and community engagement, ensuring timely and quality care reaches the most vulnerable populations. By strengthening local health systems and promoting community participation, we enhance overall well-being, resilience, and the capacity of communities to manage their own health needs.

what we do

Agriculture, Food Security and Livelihood

We support communities in achieving sustainable food security and economic resilience through a comprehensive approach that combines agricultural development, livelihood support, and emergency food assistance. Working closely with farmers, we provide in-kind and cash-based support, rehabilitate and restore irrigation schemes, protection walls, and other critical agricultural infrastructure, and offer vocational training to promote self-reliance. In emergency situations, we deliver ready-made hot meals to ensure immediate food security. Our programs are designed to strengthen household and community capacities, reduce vulnerability, and empower families to build sustainable, resilient, and independent livelihoods.

Services

Protection

We safeguard vulnerable populations, including women, children, and people with specific needs, from abuse, exploitation, and violence. Our work encompasses child protection, ensuring children are safe, supported, and able to thrive, alongside broader protection initiatives that uphold the rights and dignity of all at-risk individuals. Through advocacy, psychosocial support, and active community engagement, we empower communities, strengthen protective environments, and promote safety, resilience, and well-being for those most vulnerable.

Services

Nutrition

We implement nutrition-focused programs to improve the health and well-being of children, pregnant and lactating women, and vulnerable populations. Our interventions include nutrition education, provision of supplements, and community-based initiatives to prevent malnutrition, promote healthy growth, and support long-term nutritional resilience. By raising awareness and engaging communities, we empower families to make informed decisions that strengthen overall health and well-being.

Services

WASH

We enhance access to safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene services to protect communities from waterborne diseases and improve overall health. Our programs encompass WASH in schools, communities, and health centers, focusing on constructing sustainable infrastructure, promoting hygiene behavior change, and empowering communities to maintain safe and hygienic environments, particularly in underserved and emergency-affected areas.

Services

ESNFI

We provide emergency shelter, essential household items, and support for displaced and disaster-affected families, ensuring safety, dignity, and basic living standards during crises. Our interventions focus on delivering timely assistance, supporting transitional solutions, and helping communities rebuild and recover in a resilient and sustainable manner.

Services

Capacity Building, Survey and Research

We conduct rigorous surveys, assessments, and research to understand the needs, priorities, and challenges of communities across Afghanistan. Our work provides reliable data that informs evidence-based humanitarian and development interventions, guides program planning, and ensures that our assistance is effective, responsive, and tailored to the unique needs of the populations we serve. By combining community engagement with data-driven analysis, we strengthen decision-making and enhance the impact of our programs.
